The Newest Anti-Ageing Skin Treatment Is Here And OMG It Works!

No word of a lie - this anti-ageing number will turn back the clock.

Anti-ageing treatments come out every other week and despite the fact I should know better, I get excited every single time. Some times that excitement is well founded. Other times, not so much.  You see anti-ageing is BIG business and as such, everyone wants a slice of the action. Accordingly, anti-ageing treatments are released very, very regularly.

I'm in a very privileged position in that I get the chance to try a lot of these treatments (and anti-ageing makeup and skincare too). And hell - despite the fact that I am experienced enough to know that they're not all awesome I just cannot find it within myself to turn a free treatment down. So try and test (sometimes many, many times over) is what I do.

And here's the honest to goodness truth - a whole swag of those treatments aren't up to scratch. Some are sort of effective, but cost a bomb. Others actually work - but are so painful they make you want to die. But every now and again, a treatment that's comfortable, efficacious AND pretty affordable comes along. And just the other month I had the opportunity to try such a treatment and holy hell - it works!

This particular treatment was a skin resurfacing and skin tightening number utilising radio frequency, a hot new trend in anti-ageing.

It's creators say it combines Multi-Polar Radio Frequency and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields, which work to produce uniform heat under the skin’s surface. The radio frequency causes a thermal reaction in the tissue, which stimulates the body’s natural healing response. This helps increase collagen and elastin, resulting in tighter, smoother skin. Hurrah!

This process also works to break down the volume of fat cells in the treatment area, contributing to a slimmer, more contoured shape. Also hurrah!

Even better, I can vouch that the treatment is barely even noticeable as far as discomfort goes and six weeks later my skin is honest-to-goodness glowing and super smooth too. Will I be getting a hit of it again? Damn straight I will. And if you're keen on that sort of thing then I genuinely recommend you do the same.

Read this first though. That way you'll have a good understanding of exactly how this particular anti-ageing treatment works and why you might like to consider it. A quick note - there are a variety of treatments that utilised RF. This particular one is called the Venus Viva and it is available nationwide.

In the meantime, this is what cosmetic nurse Natalie Abouchar of Privée Clinic (which is where I underwent my treatment) has to say about it.

First of all, who would this treatment be suitable for?

The treatment would be suitable for anyone who wants to improve the texture of their skin, improve skin laxity and pigmentation, uneven texture, acne scars, enlarged pores and wrinkles. It also works on stretch marks.

How exactly does it work and what can it achieve?

The machine's hand-piece stamps the skin with tiny pins. Heat (delivered by radio frequency) is sent down the pin which creates a micro-wound. The body then responds by increasing the amount of collagen in the skin cells. This process repairs the signs of skin damage seen on the surface of the skin. It can achieve a reduction in wrinkles, tightening of the skin, improved texture improved and more even skin tone, improvement in acne scars

How would you describe the way it feels? I mean I know ... but you tell me ...

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied prior and if this is used the treatment is quite comfortable. Without the cream it feels like lots of little shocks and would be a fairly painful procedure, so the topical is very much recommended.

One off or a series and if so, how many and spaced at what intervals?

For best results a series of three to four treatments is recommended based on where your skin is at and what you want to achieve. Each treatment should be spaced four to six weeks apart. You will however see a noticeable difference in texture after just one treatment.

What's so great about it as opposed to the treatments that have been available for longer?

It's a much stronger treatment than needling alone. And results will be visible to the eye much sooner. There's much less downtime compared to other similar treatments such as CO2 laser. It can be used on most skin types as opposed to laser, in which there is a much higher risk of post inflammatory hyper pigmentation.

Why are you excited about it?

The results have been so amazing and it’s a great option for people that want to tighten the skin but aren't ready or don't want to try any surgical procedures.

And it's going to set you back how much exactly?

We charge $660 for a  full face or $1500 for a pack of three treatments.

We charge $990 for face and neck.

We do recommend three treatments needed, spaced four to six weeks apart.
