Model Miranda Kerr Loves Organic Beauty And Her Mama Does Too
Miranda has a model beauty secret and it’s family …
Miranda Kerr. That’s pretty much all I need to say to make you snap to attention. And no wonder. The woman is phenomenal. Sure, she’s a model. A supermodel even. But here’s the deal. She didn’t come from nowhere. That incredibly beautiful human being has a family, a mama in particular and that’s who I want to focus on today. Because Therese Kerr, yes, that’s Miranda’s mama’s name, is quite something herself and as such she has a story of her own to tell.
It’s a big story and it has a little magic to it. You’ll need to pay attention to get everything you can from it. So, let’s get started shall we?
“I was a tomboy really from about the age of 12 or so I wasn’t interested in makeup or beauty at all. I loved riding horses and motorbikes which was perfect because I grew up with three brothers including my twin.
I liked to look nice but wasn’t concerned about my weight, or wanting to be anything other than the person I was. It wasn’t until I had tumours in my spleen that I began to take note of what I was putting in and on my body and the journey to total wellness simply blossomed from there. My life today is so different to what it used to be, not that I was overly unhealthy, I certainly wasn’t, I just didn’t have the knowledge I now have in knowing and understanding what healthy really is.
Having tumours in my spleen inspired me to truly look into every aspect of my life, to question what I was doing to my body in the fullest detail, and to transform so many areas of my life.
I have done so much work on myself over the past 17 years. I take and promote a holistic approach to health and wellness and believe we cannot have physical health in the truest sense of the word without nurturing every aspect of ourselves … the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects.
“It is pointless, in my opinion, to fill our body with incredible nutrient-rich, certified organic food or use only certified organic products on our skin because I believe if we are not in a sound, stress-free state the nutrients won’t be absorbed by the body anyway. When we are stressed (which I personally used to be as I would push myself to the limit, always achieving, being the best that I could be, doing everything for everyone and never taking time out for me) our body automatically goes into the fight or flight response.
Today, I live and breathe health and I can honestly say that I don’t think I could feel any healthier than I do at present and I am approaching 53. It is such a wonderful feeling to actually feel so healthy, vibrant and alive – I feel like I am 20 again. One thing I would love to share is that health happens by choice, not by accident. You cannot expect to be healthy if you’re eating the highly refined, high processed, high sugar and high trans fat diets that most people consume on a daily basis. We need to be accountable for our own health.
It is interesting, but definitely not an accident, that human beings are the only mammals in the world who fail to live out their life expectancy. We are the only species on the planet actively contributing to our own extinction. Our diet, environment, what we put on and in our bodies and the stress we put ourselves under … in my opinion it diminishes our longevity and contributes greatly to the high rate of illness we suffer.
But here’s the thing … We don’t have to accept illness as we age. For the most part we create the illness in ourselves by our poor health choices and only through education can we make informed choices. For too long we have given our health over to others, without questioning. It’s time we alter that for ourselves, our family and for the planet.
Today I am simply happy. I am happy with who I am. I’m also so grateful that I am the healthiest I have ever been. Every cell in my body feels alive and I love co-owning a company that is making a positive difference daily to other people’s lives, their skin, their children and to the planet.
Being the CEO of KORA Organics was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had never been in skincare in my life before, let alone certified organic skincare and to take the company from where it was to where I left it was such a joy and such a blessing. It was never about selling skincare for me … I had a team of incredible people all sharing the same vision that I had, which was to make a difference.
We helped people with their skin and their diet too and we helped them to regain, discover or to rediscover their self confidence and the business grew phenomenally from there. I took the company through organic certification and managed the business through a huge growth phase from start up, developing the online presence to where we were shipping to 67 countries.
In late 2012, it was decided that KORA would remain with skincare and I, along with my husband and business partners would develop the certified organic personal care line under my name – and that was how we launched The Divine Company.
The Divine Company specialises and manufactures the highest quality, certified organic personal care products and also age-defying skincare specifically for the 25 year plus demographic. It’s going well. People are seeking healthier alternatives, healthier for themselves, their children and the planet and we’re a part of that. That means the world to me.
Beauty Tips From Therese
• Switch to The Divine Woman Hydrating or Purifying System (Cleanse, tone and moisturise) – nature has the answers now to change the way you age.
• Most women forget to tone their skin (we have made it so easy with Divine Woman, our toner is a spritz), however, toning is vitally important as it balances the pH of the skin. Toning with the correct pH balancing toner optimises the skins ability to absorb the antioxidant-rich, high actives from the serums and moisturisers. If you fail to pH balance the skin, your skin won’t absorb these vital nutrients effectively.
• Antioxidant-rich ingredients and micro protective barriers help prevent oxidative stress, which causes free radical damage and ageing. The same air (oxidative stress) that a cut apple for example is exposed to is what our skin is exposed to consistently even when we sleep.
