Fragrance So Sexy You’ll Seduce Yourself – YES!
After a killer scent that will get your engine running? Read on sexy people
Fragrance has power. Everyone knows that. Myself included. The first fragrance I ever owned was Christian Dior’s Dune and if I catch even the tiniest hint of it today I am so emotional I almost weep. It’s not that Dune makes me sad. I well up because it takes me back to when I was in my early 20s. Just a teeny whiff and I’m transported to another life.
That’s the impact of fragrance you see. It has power – immense power. It can lift you, inspire you, give you courage. It can make you feel sexy as heck, business-like or like the ultimate rock chick. Dune for me was sophistication. It was hope and dreams and magic. Every day before I headed out into my newly-adult life I spritzed a little behind my ears, in the crook on my elbows, in the hollow of my throat and I swear to god I stepped out the front door and the entire world was mine. There was possibility everywhere I turned. Everything glittered. Including me. And I bloody loved it.
I don’t wear Dune today despite the fact that I still swoon every time I smell it. But I’m a different person and it just isn’t me any more. Obviously it still holds a special place in my heart and always will. But I just don’t want to wear it any more.
Today I’m a grown woman with experience and knowledge and a handful of dents. I know who I am. And I have a better handle on the world and also, those who inhabit it. As far as my fragrance taste goes, I’m now more about musky woody scents. I love scents that verge on masculine – yes, those that are absolutely bringing the sexy back. That’s who I am right now. A grown woman who loves a statement scent – a fragrance that will bewitch and confuse and leave you wondering what the F just happened.
Who knows what fragrance I might be drawn to in the future. I’ve no idea where I’m headed or what my next turn will reveal. But, know this, I will opt for a scent that says something – and something strong. Maybe that appeals to you. Or perhaps the scents that make your heart skip a beat are lighter, more breezy?
The deal here is that it’s entirely up to you. The only rule about scent is that you wear one you love! Perhaps you already know what that is. But if not, here’s some killer new fragrances you definitely need to consider. Spritz, spray, step out your front door and make it happen.
Helmut Lang Eau de Parfum, $289. Sensual and ephemeral. Powder gives way to a deep, musky soul. Floral top notes of lavender, rosemary and orange tree clarify and brighten. Sandalwood, cedarwood, amber and patchouli soften and mellow. Moody, confident, warm, sexual.
Empressa Eau De Parfum By Penhaligons, $329. Empressa’s floral heart is lustrous with the dusky pinks and soft whites of rose and neroli. The sensuous drydown of patchouli and vanilla is sweetened by a blend of cocoa, amber and maltol, with warming cedarwood and rich sandalwood providing depth and sensuality.
Epidor by Lubin, $299. A gorgeous floral with the sweetest of top notes of violet and plum. After five minutes of wear you’ll experience the mid notes of jasmine and orange blossom before a dry down to sultry cedar wood, sandalwood, tonka bean and vanilla.
Floris London No 89 Eau De Toilette, $190. Orange and bergamot is blended with lavender and neroli and warmed with a touch of spicy nutmeg. The floral heart is underscored by the dominant woody accord of sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver in this quintessentially English gentleman’s fragrance. Yes, it’s for men but all the same, I love it. On him and me.
Trudon Bruma Eau De Parfum, $299. Technically this one falls into the Soft Floral family but whoah – it is SEDUCTION in a bottle. It boasts top notes of black pepper, lavender, galbanum. Heart notes of violet, purple peony, iris and jasmine sambac and finally, killer sexy base notes: labdanum, Haitian vetiver and tonka bean.
Isle of Man Eau De Parfum, $229. Fresh, without being overly bitter or aquatic, Isle of Man is a very easy to like marine masculine for the modern man. Or modern woman. Because I love to wear this on a spring day when I’m feeling a little like I want to get out there and make SH&T happen.
Vera Wang Princess Noir Eau De Toilette, $49. This sweet and chic scent opens with top notes of sparkling, jeweled fruits of mandarin and notes of blackcurrant and pear. At the heart are accents of cotton flower, freesia and jasmine that blend to create a dreamy, cloud-like floral effect. It has a sultry dry down of patchouli with warm ambery notes, an addictive chocolate accord and wood at the base.
Carven Dans Ma Bulle, $139. The new fragrance Dans Ma Bulle is quite something. It’s new to me and yet it’s already something of an addiction, thanks to it’s unique blend of freshness, fantasy and sensuality. A perfect Friday night scent.
Goldfield & Banks Australia Desert Rosewood, $229. A heady rush of resinous Australian Desert Rosewood reveals a sweetness of mandarin and vanilla, before finally settling into an exotic blend of wood and spice. A unisex scent, it’s said to be the all-time favourite of both Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban.
